It's especially good for players who like the idea of courts on the doorstep and a walkable historic centre, and for a lively, sociable trip. Those set on sun-lounger downtime or guaranteed cool-of-the-day summer play will prefer the coast, but for character and atmosphere Seville is hard to match.

Best time to play

Seville is one of the hottest cities in Europe, so timing matters. Spring and autumn are glorious for both padel and sightseeing; winter stays mild and is a fine time to play. High summer is genuinely fierce — well into the high thirties — so July and August sessions are best kept to early morning or the evening, with the middle of the day for shade and a long lunch.

Getting there

Seville airport is around 30 minutes from the centre, with direct budget flights from the UK. Transfers and taxis are cheap, the city is compact and walkable, and the courts are a short ride from the central hotels, so a hire car isn't needed for a city-based trip.

Nearby areas

Seville anchors western Andalusia, so day trips come easily. Córdoba and its Mezquita are under an hour by fast train; the sherry town of Jerez and the coast at Cádiz lie to the south; and the white villages of the Sierra de Grazalema make a scenic inland escape. For a longer trip, the Costa del Sol is a couple of hours down the road.
